Attorney Aqeel Sweidy earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. His legal studies included immigration law, constitutional law, legal writing, criminal law, criminal procedure, the Federal Rules of Evidence, business law, and the U.S. legal system. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Babylon College of Law in the Republic of Iraq. His academic background reflects a strong foundation in both civil law and common law systems, as well as a continued commitment to professional growth and legal excellence.
Before establishing his immigration law practice in the United States, Mr. Sweidy practiced law in Baghdad, Iraq, where he worked as a criminal defense attorney. During that time, he represented clients in criminal proceedings, advised on trial strategy, drafted motions and pleadings, conducted witness interviews, analyzed evidence, and advocated for clients in court. This experience helped him develop strong litigation skills and case-preparation that continue to benefit his clients today.
